En Prison Roulette is a European roulette rule that changes what happens after a single-zero spin. Instead of losing an even-money bet immediately when the ball lands on zero, the stake is held for the next spin. This guide explains the rule, compares it with standard roulette, and shows how to assess the feature on spinbet before using real funds, including spinbet En Prison tables.
How En Prison Roulette Works
En Prison applies to even-money bets: red or black, odd or even, and 1–18 or 19–36. These bets normally pay 1:1. If the ball lands on zero, the wager is not settled as a full loss. The stake is placed “in prison” and remains connected to the next spin.
What happens to a held stake
On the following spin, the result determines the outcome. If the same even-money choice wins, the original stake is usually returned without profit. If the choice loses, the held stake is lost. If zero appears again, the table’s exact rule matters, so read the game information before betting.
The feature does not create a second chance to win normal profit. It mainly changes the way a zero result is settled. A player who bets $10 on black and sees zero may have $10 returned if black wins on the next spin, but the player does not normally receive an extra $10 profit from the held wager.
Spinbet and the Difference from Standard Roulette
The main comparison is simple: standard single-zero roulette gives even-money bets a full loss when zero appears, while En Prison delays that settlement. This reduces the immediate effect of zero, but it does not remove the house advantage. The exact mathematical edge depends on the table’s rules and on what happens when the following spin is also zero.
Why the rule changes the player experience
En Prison can feel less abrupt because a zero does not always end the wager at once. It also creates an extra decision point: the next spin matters even though the original bet has already been placed. That can make tracking results more complicated, especially at a busy live table.
| Point of comparison | Standard European roulette | En Prison roulette |
|---|---|---|
| Wheel layout | Single zero | Single zero |
| Even-money bet on zero | Normally loses in full | Stake may be held for the next spin |
| Even-money win | Usually pays 1:1 | Held stake commonly returns without profit |
| Zero on the following spin | Settled by the table’s standard rules | Check the specific En Prison rule |
| Other roulette bets | Settled under their normal payouts | Usually unaffected by En Prison |
Choosing Bets and Reading the Table Rules
En Prison only matters when the bet qualifies. A straight-up number, split, street or corner bet is not transformed into an even-money wager simply because the wheel has an En Prison feature. Before placing a bet on spinbet, open the paytable or information panel and confirm which bet types are covered.
A practical way to review a table
Start with the wheel type, then check the minimum and maximum stake, the payout display and the treatment of a second zero. Live roulette may also show dealer chat and video, while some tables provide a faster interface. SpinBet’s live casino range includes European and Lightning Roulette, but the published material does not establish that every table includes En Prison.
- Confirm that the table has one zero rather than zero and double zero.
- Check whether En Prison applies to all three even-money bet groups.
- Read the rule for a second zero before starting.
- Set a stake that fits your planned session rather than chasing a held wager.
Spinbet Casino Context for New Zealand Players
The New Zealand site presents casino games in NZD and uses local terms such as pokies. Its casino navigation includes slots, live casino, blackjack, roulette and game shows. Published operator information lists more than 5,000 titles from 20-plus providers, although another headline says 6,000-plus games, so these should be treated as marketing totals rather than an exact inventory.
Bonuses and roulette play
The casino welcome package is advertised as up to $6,000 plus 100 free spins across three deposits. It carries 40× wagering on bonus and free-spin winnings, a $25 maximum bonus bet and a $10,000 maximum win while active. Roulette may not contribute in the same way as slots, so a player should check the eligible-game terms before assuming that wagering on roulette will advance a bonus.
Searches for spinbet real money casino nz may also bring up promotional pages. Those pages do not replace the active terms shown in the account. Bonus conditions can determine whether a roulette session is useful for meeting a requirement or whether the game is excluded.
Bankroll and Responsible Use
Roulette outcomes remain independent, apart from the temporary settlement of a held stake. En Prison does not make a losing pattern due to “correct”, and it does not justify increasing the next wager. A clear spending limit is more useful than a progression system because the wheel offers no reliable way to predict the next result.
- Choose a fixed session budget before opening the table.
- Decide the maximum stake and session length in advance.
- Record held stakes separately from ordinary wins and losses.
- Stop when the budget or time limit is reached.
SpinBet publishes daily, weekly and monthly deposit, loss and wagering limits. Reducing a limit takes effect immediately or as soon as practicable, while increasing or removing one requires 24 hours. Time-outs range from 1 day to 3 months, and self-exclusion options range from 3 months to permanent exclusion.
What to Check Before Playing En Prison Roulette
The strongest approach is to treat the feature as a settlement rule, not a bonus. Check the game’s instructions, confirm the currency and limits, and review whether any promotion changes the eligible games or maximum bet. The site’s published withdrawal limits range from NZD20 to NZD10,000 for several methods, while its monthly withdrawal information contains conflicting figures, so cashier details should be confirmed before depositing.
Do not assume that a search result for spinbet jackpot pokies or spinbet sign up bonus applies to roulette. Jackpot slots and roulette are different products, and promotional eligibility may vary by game category. The published information also states that no no-deposit bonus was active in the January 2026 free-spins guide, so spinbet no deposit bonus claims should be checked against current account terms rather than older articles.
Conclusion: Treat En Prison as a Rule, Not a Winning System
En Prison Roulette softens the immediate impact of zero on qualifying even-money bets by holding the stake for the next spin. That can make the game feel different from standard European roulette, but it does not remove risk or guarantee a profit. On SpinBet, verify the exact table rules, covered bets, stake limits and bonus treatment first. Then use a fixed budget and regard every held stake as money still at risk.
Frequently Asked Questions
These answers cover the practical points that matter most when comparing an En Prison table with ordinary roulette.
Does En Prison Roulette have zero house edge?
No. En Prison changes how zero affects certain even-money bets, but the casino still has an advantage. The precise edge depends on the full table rules, including the treatment of another zero on the following spin. Check the information panel rather than relying on the feature name alone.
Can I use a welcome bonus on SpinBet roulette?
That depends on the active bonus terms. SpinBet states that slots contribute 100% to certain wagering requirements, while some games are excluded. Roulette eligibility may differ, so review the current promotion conditions before depositing or assuming that a roulette bet will count.
Is En Prison available on every SpinBet roulette table?
There is no basis to assume that every table uses the rule. SpinBet advertises European and Lightning Roulette, but the public game information does not confirm En Prison for every listing. Open the specific table’s rules and confirm the feature before placing a wager.
What should happen if zero appears twice?
The answer depends on the table’s written rules. Some versions return a held stake only when the following spin wins, while a second zero may leave it held or settle it as a loss. Read the table instructions carefully, and ask support if the wording is unclear.
